About Warren County History Museum

The Warren County History Museum in Monmouth preserves and exhibits the region's past through hands-on displays and seasonal outdoor exhibits. Visitors explore the Agriculture Room, browse the Civil War and Military collection, and walk through a recreated Country School. The Fashionistas Through the Decades exhibit showcases historical clothing, while Grandma's Home presents domestic life from earlier eras. Plants of the Prairie offers a living outdoor exhibit during warmer months. The museum also features Nizie the Elephant and maintains an Oral History Project documenting community stories. General admission is free. The museum hosts the annual Great Nicola Magic Festival with family-friendly magic shows, and the collections area opens by appointment. The non-profit, founded in 1968, moved to its current Monmouth location in 2009 to better serve and document Warren County's history for public education and understanding.
