Vanderbilt Dyer Observatory crowns one of Nashville's tallest peaks in Brentwood, surrounded by scenic Radnor Lake State Park and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since 1953, the observatory's telescopes have pointed toward the night sky. Visitors attend ticketed events including Telescope Nights, where they explore exhibits, connect with astronomers, and view celestial objects through the Seyfert and DeWitt telescopes. The observatory hosts summer camps, school field trips, and Meet the Astronomer evenings for those interested in science, technology, engineering and math. The venue also offers outdoor concerts under the stars through Bluebird on the Mountain and Opera on the Mountain performances, followed by telescope viewing. Educational programs feature special lectures and workshops led by scientists. Field trip programs and mobile field trips serve school groups throughout the year.
