USS Slater is a World War II destroyer escort moored on the Hudson River in Albany, New York, and restored as a naval museum. Visitors board the ship for guided tours ranging from thirty minutes to two hours, exploring the 3-inch gun, officer's country, galley, depth charges, radio room, pilot house, and combat information center. The Main Deck Tour covers essential areas including the head and fantail. The History Tour, the most popular option, reaches most of the vessel and shows all weaponry types and living quarters. The Stem to Stern Tour descends to the engine room and collections space with restored compartments. Separate thirty-minute tours focus on the diesel-electric propulsion system or artifact displays donated by sailors and families. Youth groups can arrange overnight camping aboard. Naval reunions and special events occur throughout the season. The museum operates Wednesday through Sunday with free parking adjacent to the ship.
