About American Italian Heritage Museum

American Italian Heritage Museum records and preserves Italian heritage and culture through exhibits, cultural programs, activities, and outreach. Visitors explore museum exhibits housed in a restored 4,000 square-foot former Catholic church built by Italian immigrant laborers in 1922. The Folk Art Room features Sicilian puppets from circa 1909. The museum sits on the AIHA Campus at its current location in Colonie, a suburb of Albany. The organization began in Utica in 1979 with the mission of documenting Italian contributions to American society. A visit suits anyone interested in Italian American history and cultural preservation. Visitors can tour the galleries during published hours or arrange advance appointments. Bus tours are welcomed with advance notice. The museum charges admission, with pricing published online, and operates as a community resource dedicated to celebrating Italian heritage.
