About Historic Cherry Hill

Historic Cherry Hill is a house museum in Albany, New York where visitors take guided tours through a 1787 merchant's home furnished to show five generations of one wealthy family. Docents lead groups through the house, which contains original artifacts, letters, and photographs that reveal stories of the Van Rensselaer family and others who lived and worked there, including Dinah Jackson, an enslaved cook. Visitors navigate historic staircases, view period furnishings and collections, and engage with hands-on items and scavenger hunts designed for younger visitors. The museum hosts special programming including Murder at Cherry Hill immersive evening tours available through online ticket sales, and seasonal community events like Pumpkin Party on the Hill with pumpkin painting and crafts. Guided tours begin on the hour and welcome walk-ins. Modern chairs are available in rooms, listening devices are provided at no charge, and the museum works to accommodate visitors with mobility considerations. All ages are welcome.
