About Pruyn House

Pruyn House is a historic house museum in Latham, New York, where visitors participate in community programs centered on the building's cultural heritage and original domestic functions. The museum hosts Stay & Stitch gatherings in the Pruyn House Parlors, two-hour Thursday evening sessions where crafters work on their own projects in a space restored to its original use for handicrafts and socialization. Participants bring their own supplies and projects; attendees may offer advice to one another on work in progress. The museum also presents curator talks and receptions featuring the house's new curator discussing her research into Dutch identity in the seventeenth century and New Netherland colonial history. General admission is free. The Pruyn House welcomes community members of all skill levels and interests, whether attending craft sessions, lectures, or organized outings arranged by the Friends of Pruyn House, such as bus trips to regional cultural sites including historic estates and art museums.
