The UC Botanical Garden at Berkeley is a living museum with over 10,000 kinds of plants across more than 34 acres, organized into nine major geographic regions. A typical first visit spans two hours, during which guests encounter the Redwood Grove, Glass Houses, and plant collections including rare houseplants, drought-tolerant specimens like Agaves and Aloes, and succulents such as Cotyledons and Crassulas. The Garden Shop sells one-of-a-kind items and hosts pop-up plant sales featuring rare plants propagated from the Garden collection, with staff available to answer care questions. The grounds include paved pathways as well as unpaved paths that may be narrow, rocky, uneven, or steep; trained service dogs are permitted with prior clearance at the Kiosk.
