Golden Gate Live Steamers is a nonprofit museum dedicated to live steam model railroading and model engineering since 1936. Visitors ride miniature steam trains on the club's track facility, which operates on Sunday afternoons. The museum maintains a library with books, club documents, historical documents, newsletters, periodicals, photos, videos, and technical articles related to steam locomotives and model engineering. The facility is staffed by members who share a passion for trains and model building. Public train rides are available through the Redwood Valley Railway adjacent to the club. The Golden Gate Live Steamers is located in Tilden Park in the hills above Berkeley, in Contra Costa County, California. General club meetings welcome newcomers with no requirements or obligations beyond an interest in trains.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Our FREE Public Train rides has resumed operations”
Hours: Every Sunday Noon to 3 pm
