About The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center
The Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center features exhibits on the Lost City of Cecil B. DeMille, the 1923 film set built in the dunes for the silent epic The Ten Commandments. Visitors explore artifact collections from the film production and discover interactive displays on dune habitats through aquariums and terrariums housing fish, amphibians, insects and reptiles. The Cabinets of Curiosity exhibit showcases excavated artifacts, sea urchins, bone specimens and drift balls formed by ocean waves, alongside the work of pioneer environmentalist Kathleen Goddard Jones. A Sand exhibit features sand gathered from around the world, while the Agriculture display illustrates how different cultures sustained families across the region's 22,000 acres. The Center also offers private naturalist-led group walks through the 18-mile complex. Children 12 and under receive free admission; adults pay $7. The Center is in Guadalupe, California, and publishes hours on dunescenter.org.
