About The Dove Block Project

The Dove Block Project is a community arts center in historic downtown Geneva devoted to fostering the arts in the Finger Lakes Region through exhibitions, events, and programs open to all. Visitors explore rotating exhibitions featuring work by regional artists and photographers, with past shows including quilts and abstract paintings. The center offers workshops in screenprinting and acrylic painting, as well as mobile art camps for families. Programming includes seasonal festivals such as the Fall Family Festival and Holiday Festival, artwalk events, and artist readings. The center occupies a restored High Victorian commercial building designed by Rochester architect Andrew Jackson Warner and built in 1878, historically significant as a former opera house and performance venue. The project honors renowned American modernist artist Arthur Dove, who grew up in Geneva and created seminal works while living in the building. The center operates Wednesday through Sunday with adjusted hours for special events.
