About Texas Heritage Museum

The Texas Heritage Museum in Hillsboro exhibits historical artifacts spanning from the Texas Republic through the Vietnam War. The Historical Research Center houses maps, photographic collections, microfilm, and archival materials including soldiers' letters, diaries, and unpublished manuscripts. Original artworks, prints, and sculptures depicting the War Between the States are displayed, along with personal items from Bob Bullock during his tenure as Lieutenant Governor of Texas. The museum operates Hill College Press, the only academic press at a community college in Texas, which has published 49 books on regional history. Student groups of ten or more can participate in curriculum-connected education programs such as WWII Through Texan Eyes, Extraordinary Courage: The Medal of Honor, and Texas in Turmoil. The museum recognizes Audie Murphy as the most decorated soldier of World War II through its Official Texas State Medal of Honor Memorial.
