About Sun City Rockhound Club and Mineral Museum

The Sun City Mineral Museum is an extension of the Sun City Rockhound Club, originally formed in 1963 and opened to the public in 1990. Housed at the Sundial Recreation Center, the museum features three display rooms showcasing over 1,500 rock and mineral specimens collected by club members over decades. Visitors explore exhibits displaying the variety of geological specimens the club has amassed. General admission is free and open to all ages. The Rockhound Club participates in Sun City's Arts and Crafts Festival and hosts a rock sale where specimens are available for purchase. Additional specimens can be bought at the museum gift shop. The museum suits anyone interested in rocks, minerals, and geology, whether visiting casually or as part of a collecting hobby.
