About Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History Sea Center

The Sea Center is an interactive regional aquarium operated by Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and located on historic Stearns Wharf. Visitors encounter marine animals from the Santa Barbara Channel through permanent exhibits and educational programs. The upstairs exhibit Dive In: Our Changing Channel features Moon Jellies, a California Moray Eel, and animals from the channel's rocky reefs and kelp forests. The Two-spot Octopus is among the Sea Center's most popular species. On the Wet Deck, visitors use classic oceanographic tools to study marine life and observe the constantly changing environment beneath the wharf. The Marine Mammal Mezzanine displays a life-sized model of a Gray Whale mother and calf alongside information about marine mammals that live in or migrate through the Santa Barbara Channel. School field trips and unique events complement the permanent collections. The attraction serves families and students exploring ocean life in Santa Barbara, California.
