About Casa Dolores
Casa Dolores is a museum in Santa Barbara that displays exhibitions focused on Mexican cultural art and traditions. Visitors view rotating exhibitions featuring ceramics, textiles, masks, and folk art from various regions of Mexico. The Spotlight Gallery presents current exhibitions such as Bandera Ware and paintings by José Salazar. The museum's collections include tin art, burnished pottery from Jalisco, lacquers from Uruapan, green-glazed ceramics, and traditional dolls. Seasonal exhibitions explore Mexican holidays and cultural celebrations, including Day of the Dead altars, nativity scenes, Cinco de Mayo displays, and Mexican Independence Day installations. Visitors can examine old postcards from Mexico, legendary Mexican cinema photographs, traditional Mexican embroidery, traditional toys, mariachi outfit histories, and the origins of La Catrina. The museum also features collections exploring Mexican themes such as the Tree of Life, alebrijes, mystical masks, lotería, and dining traditions in Mexico.
