Santa Barbara Botanic Garden occupies 78 acres in Mission Canyon near downtown Santa Barbara, featuring six miles of meandering trails through more than 1,000 species of California's native plants. Visitors walk stone-paved pathways and compact earthen trails of varying difficulty, from accessible routes to primitive areas with steep or uneven terrain, passing historical landmarks and working labs. The garden hosts classes and events focused on horticulture and wellness, youth programs including camps, and private rentals for special events and photography. The nursery and shop operate daily, and leashed dogs receive free admission. Free Community Days offer free admission every Sunday in October with themed experiences featuring music, art, wellness, and family activities, as the site listed through October 31. Garden members receive ten percent off all plants during early access shopping, the site listed through November 7. Tickets are sold online on the venue's site.
