About Planetarium

The East Texas A&M Planetarium, located in the McFarland Science Building in Commerce, features a 40-foot dome with a Digistar 7 all-digital projection system that displays the night sky and cosmos for audiences of all ages. During each approximately 50-minute show, a live interactive presentation introduces visitors to constellations, stars, and planets visible from the current night sky. The planetarium opens to the public for regular shows on Friday evenings at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., with additional showtimes available throughout the year. Private group reservations are also available, which include a night sky presentation followed by a selected program from the planetarium's show catalog. Groups can arrange viewings outside regular public hours, and the facility offers movie night rentals for those providing their own films on DVD or Blu-ray. Visitors can contact the planetarium office by phone or email to arrange reservations and learn about current programming.
