About MuseumLab

MuseumLab is a venue for youth, teens, and creative adults to explore art, technology, and making activities in Pittsburgh. The space occupies the former Carnegie Library of Allegheny, a restored 1890 building featuring original archways, columns, and mosaic floors. A signature attraction is Gymlacium, a three-story climbing sculpture hand-woven from hemp rope where visitors move across bridges, up ladders, through tubes, and into hammocks. Weekly workshops for ages nine and older cover various creative skills. The venue also hosts programs for middle schoolers and adult members. MuseumLab operates Saturday and Sunday afternoons and offers free general admission. Bean Sprouts café next door serves lunch, snacks, and coffee for all visitors.
