About Fort Pitt Museum

The Fort Pitt Museum, located within Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh, tells the story of Western Pennsylvania's role during the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, and Pittsburgh's founding. Interactive exhibitions feature life-like figures and 18th-century artifacts that illustrate how life unfolded in the 1700s. Visitors encounter displays about the fort's military significance, the region's indigenous peoples, and the city's early settlement. During summer months, colonial reenactors demonstrate period activities and crafts in the surrounding park. The brick building, flanked by historic cannons at its entrance, welcomes families with children under 18 at no charge, school groups, and history enthusiasts. Retired and active duty military receive $2 off admission. RAD Pass holders gain free admission on the third Thursdays and Sundays of each month.
