The Allegheny-Kiski Valley Heritage Museum occupies a striking 1931 Art Deco building in Tarentum and preserves the industrial history of the river valley towns that developed near Pittsburgh. Visitors explore exhibits centered on the region's glass, steel, and aluminum industries, which attracted entrepreneurs and immigrant workers. The museum displays an aluminum collection from the world's first aluminum production plant, along with the Tarentum Glass collection. Notable exhibits include Dr. Bruno's Dental Chair, artifacts related to Nellie Bly, the famous Apollo journalist and inventor, and WEAR-EVER Aluminum Specialties items. The building itself features distinctive cobalt blue glass walls in the ballroom and murals depicting the home front during World War II. The museum suits history enthusiasts interested in industrial heritage and local stories. General admission is free. The museum opens Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, or by appointment.
