Museum of Miami preserves and shares the history of Greater Miami through exhibitions, city tours, and community programs. Visitors explore galleries displaying more than 40,000 artifacts and over 2 million images that document the city's people, places, and cultural diversity. The museum operates two buildings on the Miami-Dade Cultural Plaza, with galleries that close at 5 p.m. Students learn about local history and heritage, families discover their connections to Miami's story, and newcomers explore the city's background. The museum hosts Free Community Fun Days on the second Saturday of each month, including sensory-friendly hours designed for visitors with autism spectrum and sensory processing needs. Interactive activities engage children alongside adults exploring exhibitions. The Research Center opens by appointment only for deeper study. Admission is charged, with tickets sold online through the venue's website. The museum sits in downtown Miami near Government Center Station and the Miami-Dade Cultural Center parking garage, accessible by Metrorail, Metromover, Metrobus, and city trolleys.
