About Mount Dora History Museum

The Mount Dora History Museum, opened in 1979, displays historical photographs, objects and stories spanning from the 1870s to the present day. Visitors explore artifacts and accounts that document the community's development over more than a century. The museum works alongside the Mount Dora Archives, a collaborative project that collects, preserves and digitizes historical photographs, documents and publications to further understanding of Mount Dora's early days. The Historical Society also maintains Mount Carmel-Simpson Cemetery, established in 1883 for orange grove workers and containing 61 graves that were restored in 2010. Anyone interested in local history, family heritage or the origins of Mount Dora will find these resources valuable. A visit involves examining exhibits and accessing archived materials that tell the stories of the people and events that shaped the community. The museum is located in Mount Dora, Florida.
