About Mindworks: The Science of Thinking

Mindworks: The Science of Thinking is a behavioral science laboratory and interactive discovery center where visitors explore how the human mind works while contributing to research. The space features eight interactive exhibits, six testing rooms, and an iPad testing area covering goal-setting, financial decision-making, first impressions, and common thinking errors. During a visit lasting thirty to sixty minutes, a staff member introduces the center, then visitors participate in hands-on research studies designed by world-renowned scientists including Nobel laureate Richard Thaler. Participants explore topics like motivation, risk assessment, and judgment while advancing scientific understanding of human behavior. The center welcomes school groups, college students, and professional teams seeking insights into how behavioral science applies to finance, healthcare, business, and policy. Mindworks operates as a working laboratory run by the Roman Family Center for Decision Research at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
