About McDuffie Museum

The McDuffie Museum in Thomson preserves and shares the history of Thomson and McDuffie County through exhibits housed in two historic buildings: First National Bank, built in 1899, and Thomson Drugs, built in 1904. Visitors explore gallery spaces featuring rotating exhibits. Past exhibitions have included "Key Ingredients: America by Food" from the Smithsonian Institution's Museums on Main Street division and the American Revolution Traveling Exhibit hosted by the American Battlefield Trust and the National Society of the DAR. The museum offers complimentary tours and hosts special programming throughout the year, including student literary competitions with monetary prizes and live Revolutionary reenactments. Exhibits explore American Revolutionary history through people, objects, and stories, engaging youth and community members seeking to understand local heritage and regional history.
