Elberton Granite Museum and Exhibit displays the Confederate statue called "Dutchy," the first statue ever crafted from Elberton granite, which was toppled and buried on Sutton Square in 1900 after local Confederate Veterans rejected it, then carefully exhumed in 1982 and restored to the museum. Visitors navigate three tiers of self-guided exhibits featuring unique granite products and antique granite working tools from the quarrying, sawing, polishing, cutting and sandblasting operations that shaped cemetery memorials. The museum's historical artifacts and educational displays trace Elberton's granite industry from its beginning. The collection reveals how craftspeople transformed raw stone into finished granite monuments. A visit suits anyone interested in industrial history, regional heritage or the technical processes behind monumental stonework. The self-guided format allows visitors to explore at their own pace through the museum's tiered galleries. Located in Elberton, Georgia, the museum attracts more than four thousand visitors annually.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Admission: Free”
