About Martisco Station Museum

Martisco Station Museum is a restored Victorian brick railroad station where visitors explore exhibits documenting over 150 years of rail history between Syracuse and Auburn. The two-story structure, built in 1870 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, features a first-floor recreation of a small town railroad station and a second floor containing multiple railroad exhibits. The station sits on the Finger Lakes Railway, the active descendant of the Auburn branch of the New York Central Railroad. Visitors learn how the station, originally called Marcellus, was renamed Martisco in 1905 as a contraction of Marcellus and Otisco Lake Railway operations. Exhibits detail passenger service that peaked in the early 1900s with New York Central diners, parlor cars and sleepers, before declining after World War II. The museum illustrates the branch line's transition from passenger to freight operations and its eventual revival under the Finger Lakes Railway. The museum is located in Marcellus, New York.
