About Everson Museum of Art

Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse displays American paintings, sculpture, drawings, video, graphics, and one of the nation's largest international ceramics collections, with more than 10,000 works total. Visitors explore rotating exhibitions featuring contemporary artists and their work—recent shows have included ceramic sculptures, works addressing personal identity, and pieces spanning art movements from Dada to abstraction. The museum building itself, designed by architect I.M. Pei, functions as a sculptural artwork. The Everson was the first museum to dedicate itself to American art, establish a permanent ceramics collection, collect video art, and create a docent program. Family Days and Community Days occur throughout the year. The museum serves diverse visitors seeking encounters with modern and contemporary art in downtown Syracuse, at the corner of Harrison and South State Streets.
