Munson is a museum of art in Utica featuring galleries of paintings, sculptures, decorative arts, and historical furnishings that visitors explore at their own pace or with guided docent tours. The museum displays American and European paintings, Asian ceramics, silver, and European watches collected by the Williams and Proctor families. Fountain Elms, an 1850s Italianate house on the grounds, showcases period rooms with original furniture by New York cabinetmakers including Herter Brothers and Charles Baudouine, along with open study storage and changing exhibitions. Art Odyssey offers children opportunities to design exhibitions, draw, build, and read art books, with Art Story programs held the first Thursday of each month in collaboration with Utica Public Library. The museum provides guided tours, self-guided audio experiences, and educational programs tailored for school groups and learners of all ages. A museum shop sells jewelry, home décor, books, and toys from the collections. The Terrace serves food Tuesday through Saturday. The museum is located in Utica, New York.
