Oneida County History Center is a museum in Utica where visitors explore the heritage of Oneida County and the Mohawk Valley through rotating exhibits, weekly programs, and research. The 5,000 square-foot gallery displays multiple concurrent exhibits, including the featured exhibit Visions of Utica: The City in Oils by Paul Parker, showcasing iconic scenes from the 1950s and 1960s. The History Center hosts monthly programs and special events such as Big Band Sounds for Dancers and Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations. Visitors can browse the bookstore featuring Oneida County history books and merchandise, or conduct genealogical research at the Tharratt Gilbert Best Research Library by appointment, investigating family heritage, old photographs, and property history. The center charges admission and publishes its prices online. A visit suits families, students, and researchers interested in local and regional history. The History Center is located at the corner of Genesee Street and Avery Place in Utica, New York.
