Log Cabin Village is a living history museum where visitors explore nine restored structures from the mid-to-late 1800s to understand pioneer life in North Texas. The Village preserves authentic log homes furnished with period artifacts, each displaying different aspects of frontier existence. Visitors walk through exhibits including a water-powered gristmill, a one-room schoolhouse, and a blacksmith shop. The site features several log home settings, an herb garden, and the Foster Cabin, an 1850s plantation house. Historical interpreters, City of Fort Worth staff and volunteers, demonstrate nineteenth-century lifestyles and skills throughout the grounds. The Village also maintains the Van Zandt Cottage, a recorded Texas Historic Landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Located in Fort Worth, the museum charges admission, with hours published on its website. School groups and families can arrange field trips to connect with ancestors through sensory, educational experiences.
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
