Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge spans 3,621 acres of forests, prairies, and wetlands across Fort Worth, featuring over 20 miles of hiking trails. Visitors explore the landscape on self-guided or staff-led hikes, encountering native habitats along the West Fork of the Trinity River. The Hardwicke Interpretive Center serves as the hub for learning. The refuge manages a bison herd and hosts educational programs throughout the year covering topics such as monarch butterfly migration, backyard birding techniques, endangered Texas species like horned lizards, and bison conservation. Visitors can launch canoes, complete self-guided scavenger hunts, and observe summer bird migrants including Summer Tanagers and Green Herons.
