About Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve

Bob Jones Nature Center and Preserve in Southlake offers visitors 758 acres of Cross Timbers ecosystem habitat to explore. More than 20 miles of hiking trails wind through the property, ranging from the quarter-mile White-Tailed Deer Trail to the nearly two-mile Grapevine Lake Trail, accommodating explorers of different ages and abilities. Visitors hike to observe wildlife in natural settings, spotting deer, coyotes, and bobcats, and looking for animal tracks along the paths. Over 1,100 species of flora and fauna inhabit the preserve. The Nature Center building hosts scheduled public programs and classes. Trails open daily at published hours, with extended summer schedules and reduced winter hours. The property preserves the historic legacy of Bob Jones, a respected rancher born in 1850, whose family once owned the land. The preserve opened to the public in 2008.
