About Houston Zoo

Houston Zoo connects visitors with animals across multiple exhibits in Houston, Texas. The John P. McGovern Children's Zoo features North American river otters, banded mongooses, and a bat cave, with a goat yard open daily. African Forest showcases chimpanzees, Masai giraffes, gorillas, and southern white rhinoceroses along a path through a village trading outpost. Wortham World of Primates offers a boardwalk through habitats for lemurs, siamangs, howler monkeys, tamarins, and orangutans. The Wild nature play area lets children climb a rock wall, build with branches, and dig in mud pits. Meet the Keeper Chats occur throughout the day. Animal encounters include exclusive Reptile House access and guided after-hours cart tours. Tickets are sold online. Children ages 3–12 and seniors 65 and older receive 20% discounts. U.S. military members and veterans get 50% off for up to five guests. SNAP and WIC benefit recipients pay nine dollars per ticket for up to two adults and three children, and registered Houston college students receive free admission.
