About Harris Lass House Museum

The Harris-Lass House Museum preserves Santa Clara's last farm site, named for two families who owned the property for 125 years. Visitors tour a fully furnished Italianate house built in 1865 and extensively remodeled in the 1890s, with most furnishings belonging to the Lass family. The museum grounds feature a classic California barn, summer kitchen, tank house, landscaped gardens, and Heritage Orchard with heritage fruit trees. The City of Santa Clara purchased and restored the property, opening it publicly in 1991. A volunteer-run nonprofit operates the site, offering public house tours and seasonal events including movie nights in the barn and an annual flea market on the lawn. General admission is free, with members and their guests receiving complimentary admission to the museum and docent-led tours.
