About Harbor View Historical Society
Harbor View Historical Society in Ohio is a museum dedicated to preserving the history of Native Americans and early European settlers in Northwestern Ohio. Visitors explore exhibits documenting the native inhabitants and various ethnic groups who migrated to the region between the late 1700s and early 1800s. The museum originated from a partnership between Boy Scouts of America and U.S. Navy personnel who converted a former Baptist church into the facility. The Boy Scouts created different areas of interest throughout the museum, including an Eagle Project called the neighborhood library. The museum houses artifacts on display and serves as a community gathering space. Throughout the year, the society hosts several events offering opportunities to learn more about the region's history. The museum attracts visitors from across the country and Canada who come to experience the historical presentations and educational programs developed by volunteers and storytellers at the society.
