About Auglaize Village

AuGlaize Village is an open-air history museum in Defiance, Ohio, where visitors walk through more than 40 historic buildings that represent 19th- and early 20th-century rural Ohio life. The site includes original structures, restorations, and reconstructed buildings such as the Sherry School, a mid-1800s one-room schoolhouse, and the Chapel of the Crosses, built in 1875. Visitors explore a fully stocked General Store, Blacksmith Shop, Cane Mill, Cider Mill, Telephone Company exhibit, and the Jewell Railroad Station. The Mansfield Museum, housed in the original red barn at the village center, features shops and exhibits. The museum operates during scheduled events and on volunteer work days when tours are available by appointment. The site suits visitors interested in regional history and how people lived generations ago. AuGlaize Village was established in 1966 by the Defiance County Historical Society to preserve and share the county's past.
