The Haas-Lilienthal House is an 11,500 square foot Victorian mansion in San Francisco that visitors explore through docent-led public tours. Built in 1886 by architect Peter R. Schmidt for William and Bertha Haas, this Queen Anne style home survived the 1906 earthquake and fire. The house museum features the first floor, ballroom, and third floor rooms that showcase 19th century living and architecture. SF Heritage, the preservation organization headquartered there, developed an educational program for third graders focusing on architecture, preservation, and period history. The house operates as a museum open to public tours and also serves as a sophisticated venue for private events, with a baby grand piano and various parlors available. Designated a National Treasure in 2012 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and listed as San Francisco Landmark #69, the residence stands as a site of national cultural and architectural significance.
