About George C. McGough Nature Park

George McGough Nature Park in Largo offers hands-on environmental learning through interactive exhibits and live animal encounters. Visitors explore habitats housing aquatic turtles, tortoises, snakes, frogs, and lizards alongside non-releasable raptors including screech owls, barred owls, great horned owls, red-shouldered hawks, red-tailed hawks, and Sarge the bald eagle. The park is locally known as the Turtle Park for its emphasis on reptile education and care. The site accommodates field trips for school groups and organized nature parties for celebrations and events. Educational programs and classes run throughout the year, with shelter rentals available for group activities. Visitors can meet the animals and learn about urban forestry initiatives. The wooden boardwalk, a featured walkway through the park, is currently closed for safety renovations funded by a state grant. Located at 11901 146th Street in Largo, the park operates daily with hours published on its website.
