About Sunken Gardens

Sunken Gardens is a botanical garden in St. Petersburg housing more than 50,000 exotic tropical plants and birds from around the world, including a resident flamingo flock. Visitors explore the immersive greenery and vibrant blooms across the grounds, which include a History Center and Garden Shop. The attraction offers guided garden tours and horticultural programs throughout the year. Special events include Florida Native Plant Month activities, plant walks, yoga classes, vegetable garden planning talks, and wildlife education programs. The gardens span more than 100 years old as St. Petersburg's oldest living museum. ADA-accessible historic paths wind through three-fourths of a mile of the grounds, with mature foliage providing shade and open sunny areas throughout. Limited seating is available. Most visitors spend about one and a half to two hours exploring the gardens.
