About Firehouse Museum

The San Diego Firehouse Museum, founded in 1962 and located in the Little Italy section of downtown San Diego, occupies the former home of San Diego Fire Station No. 6. Visitors explore firefighting memorabilia and apparatus spanning more than a century, including fire buckets, early firefighting equipment, La Jolla's first fire engine, a horse-drawn steamer, and a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. The brick-and-mortar building displays firefighting equipment and apparatus dating back to the late 1800s, preserving the rich tradition and heritage of the fire service. The museum includes a gift shop offering firefighting apparel. A full functioning commercial kitchen, AV equipment, tables, and chairs are available on-site. The facility accommodates private events ranging from retirements to children's birthday parties. The museum charges admission, with separate pricing for adults and children or seniors.
