The Culver City Historical Society preserves and exhibits the history of Culver City, a major center of film and television production since its incorporation in 1917. Visitors explore exhibits featuring the city's entertainment legacy, including memorabilia from classic movies like Gone With the Wind, Citizen Kane, The Wizard of Oz, and Meet Me in St. Louis, which were filmed on local studio lots. The museum's collections include city archives, photographs, newspapers, and items related to notable figures like Harry Culver and Fred Parrish. A rotating costume collection showcases pieces from Hollywood productions. The society also maintains historical site markers throughout the city and hosts membership meetings with programs about Culver City's cultural accomplishments. Located at the Veterans Memorial Building in Culver City, the society operates as a nonprofit organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of this screenland community.
Hours: Open on the first four Sundays of the Month. 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm and by appointment.
