About Copley Historical Society

The Copley Township Historical Society Museum occupies the second floor of Copley Town Hall in Akron, Ohio. Visitors explore exhibits documenting local history, including the restored railroad depot and caboose that anchor the society's collection. The museum features museum tools and activity areas where guests can engage with artifacts and learn about Copley's past. An upcoming exhibit titled "125 Years of Copley Schools" will showcase the township's educational heritage. The society, founded in 1974 to preserve a threatened railroad depot, maintains historic articles and operates with about fifty members who meet monthly. The museum opens to the public on the first and third Wednesdays. Groups can arrange visits by appointment through Copley Town Hall. The society also offers a book titled "In the Beginning," which documents the history of Copley Township and is available for purchase during Town Hall business hours.
