About Brunswick Historical Society

Brunswick Historical Society is a nonprofit museum dedicated to discovering, collecting, and preserving the history of Brunswick and Rensselaer County. Founded in the 1970s and chartered in 1981, the Society operates from the historic Garfield School, where visitors explore archives, photographs, and artifacts documenting the area's past. The museum maintains research resources that make local history accessible to the public through educational programs and activities. Visitors can view a gallery of early Brunswick farms and learn about the region's heritage through exhibits on historic buildings, cemeteries, monuments, and markers. The Society also runs the Brunswick Veterans Banner Program, honoring local military service members. The museum hosts events including an annual tag and bake sale. A visit suits anyone interested in regional history, local genealogy research, or understanding the cultural heritage of Brunswick and Rensselaer County. The Society is located in Troy, New York.
