Bastrop County Historical Society is a nonprofit museum and visitor center where guests explore permanent and special exhibits covering regional heritage spanning centuries. Visitors experience self-guided or docent-led tours through displays including quilts from the "Stitched" exhibit, rare photographs and archival documents from Bastrop's First United Methodist Church, and artifacts tracing the area's settlement from Tonkawa inhabitants through Spanish colonial routes to Anglo settlement in the 1800s. The museum hosts rotating special exhibits focusing on unique historical perspectives and community stories, along with public events like cemetery tours, Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations, and live music performances. The facility operates in Bastrop with admission charges published on its website. Children 12 and under receive free admission, and active military and veterans also receive free admission.
