About Pioneer Farms

Pioneer Farms is a living history museum in Austin where visitors experience authentic 1800s Texas frontier life across multiple historic sites. Guests interact with costumed interpreters and participate in hands-on activities such as making rag dolls, grinding corn, sending telegrams, creating natural dyes, and spinning and weaving. The museum operates the Texas Folk Arts School, offering workshops and classes in traditional crafts and blacksmithing. The property features the recently restored Dodson House and includes farm animals such as longhorns, cows, and turkeys. Visitors can explore 1800s structures with period-appropriate porches and learn about the state's diverse cultural heritage through guided tours and field trip programs designed for schools and groups. The museum also hosts seasonal events and ghost tours throughout the year. Admission is charged, with tickets sold online through the venue's website.
