About Mexic-Arte Museum

Mexic-Arte Museum in downtown Austin presents Mexican, Latino, and Latin American art through rotating exhibitions and permanent collections. Visitors explore works including oil paintings, lithographs, prints, sculptures, ceramics, and yarn paintings that document artistic traditions and cultural practices. The museum's permanent collection contains over 5,000 pieces, among them the Serie Print Project Archive, the Ernesto F. de Soto Collection, and the Taller Grafica Popular Print Collection, along with rare books in the museum's library. Guided tours in English and Spanish allow visitors to learn about traditional and contemporary art from knowledgeable staff members. The museum hosts special events including the annual Viva La Vida Festival and Día de los Muertos celebration, plus monthly artist residencies and the Emerging Latinx Artists Exhibition. Students and adults can participate in customized educational tours tailored to specific collections and artistic interests.
