About Umlauf Sculpture Garden + Museum

Umlauf Sculpture Garden + Museum invites visitors to explore eight acres of outdoor sculpture and indoor galleries in Austin, Texas. The museum displays rotating contemporary art exhibitions alongside the permanent collection of 168 sculptures created by Charles Umlauf, a nationally recognized artist and University of Texas professor. Visitors wander the sculpture garden, attend staff-led exhibition tours included with admission, and participate in docent-guided garden walks. The site features Umlauf's artist studio and mid-century modern family home, preserved as part of the legacy. Programming includes Sculpture Garden Storytime for children, evening concert series called UMLAUF After Dark featuring live music and food, and the annual StrawFest festival offering pumpkin painting, face painting, caricature drawings, character shows, inflatable games, and demonstrations from local conservation groups. Educational talks connect visitors with art collectors and artists. The location sits across from Barton Springs Pool near Zilker Metropolitan Park. Admission is charged, with reduced prices for seniors, military, teachers, students, and children.
