About Museum of the Weird

Museum of the Weird in downtown Austin showcases oddities and curiosities in the style of 19th-century dime museums. Visitors explore exhibits featuring monsters, zombies, mummies, shrunken heads, and the Fiji mermaid. The museum includes Slantor's Chamber of Horrors, where wax figures of famous monsters are displayed alongside a life-size giant gorilla available for photographs. Located inside Lucky Lizard Curios and Gifts on 6th Street in Austin's entertainment district, the museum represents over twenty years of oddity collecting by owners Steve and Veronica Busti. The collection grew from items in their gift shop deemed too unusual and interesting to sell. The venue operates at published hours available on its website, with admission charged and tickets sold online. Note that the museum includes stairs and is not fully wheelchair accessible.
