About Austin Zoo

Austin Zoo in Austin, Texas invites visitors to explore animal habitats and interact with resident creatures. The zoo train operates daily, carrying guests through the grounds on a scenic ride. In the Hoofstock Feeding Area, visitors feed sheep, deer, goats, llamas and alpacas. Daily zookeeper chats provide insights into animal care. Guests may bring their own picnic to enjoy in the Picnic Grove. The gift shop offers souvenirs for purchase. Special animal encounters allow closer interaction with Galapagos tortoises and capybaras. The zoo hosts education programs including summer camps, field trips for school groups, scavenger hunts, scout programs, and homeschool activities like the Homeschool Nature Series and Zoo Tots. Birthday parties and private events can be arranged in designated venues and the Picnic Area. The zoo operates Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
