About Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center
The Czech Heritage Museum and Genealogy Center preserves and exhibits artifacts, manuscripts, and cultural treasures related to Czech heritage in Texas. Visitors explore exhibits featuring beautiful Czech kroj costumes adorned with glass beading, silver and gold thread, elaborate embroidery, and hand-stamped wax-resist indigo designs representing different regions. The museum houses genealogical materials and presents stories spanning three categories: the history of the Czech lands from 500 CE to the present, Czech immigration to Texas from 1850 through the early 1900s, and Czech-American identity connections during and after the Cold War. The museum offers self-guided exploration at your own pace as well as guided tours led by knowledgeable staff who share in-depth stories behind the collections. Group visits and group tours are also available for larger parties, schools, and organizations.
