About Altama Museum of Art & History

The Altama Museum of Art & History occupies the 1911 Brazell House, a Neoclassical home on the National Register of Historic Places near downtown Vidalia, Georgia. Visitors explore 20th century Southern art, antique prints, fine furniture, and historic costumes displayed throughout the building. The museum houses one of the nation's largest public collections of Staffordshire porcelain, along with a curated exhibit of Girl Scout history. A typical season features fine art and historical exhibits, gallery openings, concerts, classes, and artist markets. The museum also offers classes and workshops for visitors of all ages, ethnicities, and abilities. The historic home serves as a venue for civic meetings and social events. General admission is free. The museum is located in Vidalia, Georgia, between Macon and Savannah near historic downtown.
